- Divers with Medical Conditions
Australian Scuba Diving Standards require that all certified divers are medically fit to dive. Certain medical conditions may exclude you from diving, for example; Asthma, Epilepsy, Diabetes, Heart, Lung or Blood Disorders of any kind. If you are taking any medication (with the exception of the pill) you may be excluded from diving.
- A copy of the Diving Medical Form and a list of Accredited Doctors can be obtained from the web site for the South Pacific Underwater Medicine Society OR S.P.U.M.S
- If you suffer from a medical condition or are taking medication or have not engaged in any strenuous water based activity in the last 12 months you must Consult your Medical Practitioner prior to participating in any water sports.
- Always dive with a competent and alert buddy.
- Snorkelers with Medical Conditions
Although snorkeling is generally a safe activity, it is important that you are aware that snorkeling can be a strenuous physical activity and this may increase the health and safety risks to you if you are suffering from any medical condition that may be made worse by physical exertion. For example, Heart Disease, Asthma and some Lung Complaints. Any medical condition that can result in loss of consciousness. For example, some forms of Epilepsy and severe hypoglycemic reactions in people with Diabetes. Asthma that can be brought on by cold water or salt water mist.
- Free diving is the art of spending time underwater. The sport covers everything from Snorkelers on the surface looking down, Spear fishing for that Pelagic, Free diving for the thrill or for relaxation. To explore the ocean, Swimming freely and silently you'll feel like your apart of the Sea not an Intruder and all with Just one breath of air. Free diving is a potentially dangerous activity and can lead to serious Injury and death even if all currently known limitations and safety guidelines are followed correctly.
- Accidents can happen! Death or Serious Injury may occur this may be due to, but not limited to, Drowning, Shallow water blackout, Seizures, Hypoglycemic reactions, Loss of consciousness, tempary loss of motor control, Improper Attitude/Training/Preparation, Unknown Medical Conditions, Illegal or Improper operation of boats, Lack Of/Or Improper use of Safety Equipment, Ear And/Or Sinus Injuries, Shark Attack, Poisonous Bite/Barb/Stinger attack, A variety of Allergic reactions and other complications.
- When you choose to be On the Ocean OR you choose to be In the Ocean, you must assume all risks whether foreseen or unforeseen Of The Ocean.
